ANGRY parents are demanding to know when action will be taken to alleviate the many problems, and dangers, caused by indiscriminate parking in and around Wyesham School. One parent told The Beacon "A child is going to get seriously injured if something isn't done quickly to end this problem". The mother, Ceri Griffiths, said she had complained to the council, the school and even the contractors carrying out the work on the new school building. "But nothing is being done and I am getting extremely angry" she said. "I am not the only person who is complaining, other parents are just as concerned". The Beacon contacted the local county councillor, LIz Hackett Pain, who said on Monday: "The issue of parking around the Junior School in Wyesham is a temporary situation caused by the construction of the new Primary School. "It has, of late, been exasperated by the wet weather which has prevented the constructors' cars and vans from being able to park off the highway because the new school site has become unsuitable for this purpose. "Additionally, as the construction is running behind schedule due to the wet weather, extra construction staff are currently on site to ensure that the new school will be ready to open in time for the new school year in September. "Turners, the construction company, have been mindful of the problems this is causing and have tried to help wherever possible. "Everyone is aware that little can be done to alleviate the current parking problems but it will not continue for long as the school will shortly break up for the summer holidays. "When everyone returns next term to the new school, they will have the benefit of the school's own off-street parking facilities". However, some of the parents said the situation should not have arisen in the first place.
