As concern grows over the actions of our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in proroguing parliament eight weeks before the UK is due to exit the EU we wish to know your position in relation to some very specific points.

Do you support the proroguing of parliament? If you do, can you outline to us why it was necessary – at this critical point in time – for the suspension to be so long?

In light of reduced parliamentary time to negotiate, how do you anticipate reaching a deal with the EU? What steps will you take to avoid a no deal Brexit, predicted, by documents leaked from within the government itself, to be economically damaging and to lead to shortages in medicines, food and fuel? If you do support a no deal Brexit, please can you outline for us the specific benefits that will result over the next five years to counteract the anticipated and immediate damage it will cause to your constituents and to the economy of the UK?

We, along with many others, view this as a blatant attempt to undermine our democracy and to prevent MPs from acting in the interests of their constituents. If you support the prime minister’s actions, we’re interested in hearing how you believe you are representing the best interests of your constituents.
