ONCE upon a time, but not that long ago, a small gathering of people huddled together in the warmth of Garway village hall, with their breath hanging in the air and dewdrops falling from their noses, agreed that it was time to entertain the good people of Garway and surrounding areas, with their amazing acting skills, wit and angelic singing.

With cries of "You will do it" from the producer and "Oh no we won't" from the down-trodden and poorly paid actors, it was agreed that these fine men, women and children would give up their evenings by the warm fire and many pleasant hours spent doing homework and visits to the local for a pint, to present the pantomime Little Red Riding Hood.

Tony Phillips, the producer of this successful panto, came up with the idea of performing it as a means of raising money to maintain the recreation area in Garway, which is situated just in front of The Garway Moon Public House.

The area is loved and enjoyed by the people of Garway but the cost of maintaining and mowing it comes to over £800 a year.

It has been 17 years since the people of Garway last put on a panto and with the success of Little Red Riding Hood in 2001, the villagers will undoubtedly all live happily ever after - and so will their recreation area!
