The London Olympics kick off later this week, and Monmouth community nurse Sarah-Jane Bowen will be playing a vital role during the competition..
Sarah-Jane Bowen will be looking after athletes as part of the 'field of play recovery team' at Eton Dorney – the venue for the Olympic rowing and canoeing events.
"I saw an advert asking for volunteers in the newspaper two-and-a-half years ago and applied," said Sarah-Jane.
"I had to go through a hard interview to get in – only one in five medical people were picked – and have been to London for four training sessions."
Sarah-Jane, a member of Monmouth Rowing Club, will spend two weeks at Eton Dorney.
"I didn't ask to be given this particular role or to be at this venue, it's just lovely that the two things have come together," she said.
"I'm really excited about it now – and happy that I've been down to the site so I know how to get there and everything.
"I am going to be based right by the finishing line and one of our pontoons is right by the medals podium."
