Not a wealthy club

SIR,

I am referring to our Annual General Meeting

recently reported in the Beacon.

I hope that it did not give the impression that we are

a "wealthy club."

I can assure you we are far from that!

Our promising position at present is due to the

successful dinner and auction held in November 2007 and

funds carried over into 2008.

Our outgoings for a season's cricket in 2009 is

estimated at between £3,500/£4,000 and therefore our

healthy position will be reduced considerably by the end

of the season.

It goes without saying that we rely heavily on

sponsorship from business and friends in Monmouth and I

sincerely hope that this will continue.
