Monmouth's police sergeant says he is "disappointed" there will be no town council funded CCTV in the town for at least another year.

Monmouth Town Council's Finance and Policy Committee decided not to propose supporting any CCTV initiative in the town for the next 12 months.

The town council's position will be reviewed next year, but Sergeant Dick Bull says the cameras that the police have put in place are producing "really good" results.

"It is a great assistance in the detection and prevention of crime," he said.
