Raglan Community Council are to write to Monmouthshire County Council protesting in the strongest terms that the County Council has reneged on its verbal agreement to build a new village school on a site on the Staton Road.
Originally the site had been earmarked for a new village hall, but then it had been agreed to "do a swap", using the existing school for a village hall and the Station Road site for the new school. This had been accepted by all parties in good faith.
Councillor Trevor Phillips accused the County of breaking that faith by identifying the field for residential development.
"We had hoped the new school would be built in 2010/11 but now we're probably looking at 2012 - it's all gone down the Swannee," said Counc Phillips.
The Clerk, Mr Peter Johns was asked to write to the Chief Executive to make these points.
