A new cancer information service for Monmouthshire comes to Monmouth later this month.
Macmillan Cancer Support is running drop-in sessions in the county's libraries throughout January, starting at Abergavenny Library today (Wednesday 11th January).
A wide range of materials will be available, in different formats and languages, on the various types of cancer.
The sessions provide free cancer related booklets, details of local services and organisations, contacts to services for young people and signposting to benefits and financial advice.
Further sessions take place tomorrow (Thursday 12th January) at Usk Library from 10am to 12noon; on 20th January at Gilwern Library from 10am to 12noon and 2pm to 4.30pm; 25th January at Caldicot Library, 10am to 12noon and 2pm to 4.30pm; 26th January at Monmouth Library, 2pm to 4.30pm.
If you are unable to drop in on the above dates and need support or information, contact Erica Sheppard through your local library.
Dates for other sessions in February and March are available from each library and on the Monmouthshire Libraries website.
Macmillan Monmouthshire Cancer Support and Information co-ordinator Erica Sheppard said: "Visitors to the libraries will be able to browse and pick up booklets in a relaxed atmosphere.
"We offer good quality information on a wide range of areas for people who have had a cancer diagnosis, are going through treatment or have survived cancer.
"We also provide information for families, friends and carers and I can help people access other local services."
Susan Morris, general manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales, said: "People can often be overwhelmed by the amount of information available on cancer.
"This service provides good quality information and resources with the additional support of our specialist Macmillan Cancer Support and Information co-ordinator, Erica Sheppard.
"She can help people choose the information that is relevant to them and their condition in friendly surroundings."
The service will be available to schools and community groups and will stage local events such as roadshows and open days.
