THE Caldicot Foodbank has been forced to move its warehouse from its current site at the town's One Stop Shop to the Caldicot Health Clinic.

Last year Monmouthshire County Council announced its intention to reduce staff at the site, and one consequence of this was the decision to merge One Stop Shop functions with those of the Library.

As a result they advised the Foodbank of its need to find a new home as the One Stop Shop would be closing.

Working with the county council, Caldicot Town Council, and Churches Together in Caldicot, the Caldicot Foodbank team has been exploring options.

Now the foodbank has a new home at the health clinic on Caemawr Road, Caldicot.

Caldicot's Waitrose donated a driver and delivery van to assist in the move, and the county council provided storage units and furniture.

Diane Taylor, the foodbank's warehouse manager said: "With around £4,000 of stock to move, we've been preparing for weeks", adding that a team of volunteers and help from the county council and Waitrose had helped.

Over the past year an average of fifty people a month have been fed by the service, approximately a third of these being babies or children.
