The fifteenth annual general meeting was held at Raglan Parc Golf Club on 5th March. Acting president, Mr Ian Bowen opened the meeting and introduced the new President Mr Brandon Waters who then chaired the meeting.
Mr Waters expressed how pleased he was to have been offered the position of president at Raglan Parc and then introduced the outgoing captain Mr Wal Phillips who gave his report for the past year.
Mr Phillips said he had thoroughly enjoyed being Club Captain and commented how quickly the year had gone, saying "no sooner were you in the captains seat, it was time to go"! He also thanked his committee and fellow members for their support throughout the year. He then introduced this years' Club Captain Mr Tommy Price who, in keeping with tradition, put on his captains blazer and tie. Tommy then introduced his vice captain, Mr Gareth Hopes.
The outgoing Ladies' Captain, Mrs
Hefina Thomas, said how much she had enjoyed her captaincy year and also acknowledged the support received by her committee and fellow members. She then presented the new Ladies Captain, Mrs Patricia Phillips, with the Lady Captains Brooch who introduced her vice captain, Mrs Margaret Tranter.
The Seniors Captain, Mr Don Holmes said the senior section had a splendid year commenting that their Open was another great success, this being achieved with the help and support of all the Senior members.
Greg Harris was introduced as this years' Junior Captain.
All captains expressed how their year had been tinged with sadness over the loss of three of their fellow members. Tributes were paid to Mrs Dorothy Lillistone, late Lady President of Raglan Parc, Karen Freise, supportive and active member of the Ladies Section and Mr Denis Wilkinson, former director and chairman of Raglan Parc Golf Club.
Before the meeting closed, Mr Nigel Price, chairman of Raglan Parc Golf Club, thanked the members and the committee for all their hard work and outlined the plans for the forthcoming year. President Mr Brandon Waters then closed the meeting wishing everyone a happy golfing year.
