GWENT Police is appealing for information following a robbery in Monmouth on Thursday 16th July at around 1pm.

A 52 year old local woman was walking between Monmouth town centre and Rockfield, making her way through a local shortcut by the Army Centre (opposite the fire station), she was approached from behind by a man who asked for a light. While she was distracted he grabbed her necklace from around her neck.

He ran off but it is not known in which direction.

The necklace is described as white gold with a distinctive diamond pendant in a figure of eight style.

The man is described as white with a spotty complexion, average build, about 5'6" tall.

He was wearing black trainers, black trousers and a black zip-up hooded top.

Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries and are asking if anyone has information.
