A CAMPAIGN by Monmouth RFC to raise £25,000 for Ty Hafan is nearing its conclusion, with two more high profile events.

The club has currently raised £23,200, and earlier this year sponsored two Snowdogs which have been on display outside the Shire Hall in Monmouth since January.

Ty Hafan, which needs to raise more than £3,000,000 a year from private funding to survive, launched the Snowdog: Tails in Wales initiative in Cardiff last November, and for 10 weeks the pack of Snowdogs were unleashed on to the city’s streets, iconic buildings and open spaces as part of the public art trail.

43 fibreglass structures standing 1.5m tall were created, with a specially-designed trail encouraging members of the public to view the exhibition: raising awareness and money for the charity.

Monmouth RFC sponsored two Snowdogs and 11 smaller ‘puppy’ structures, which were decorated by schools and youth groups from the Monmouth community.

The Snowdogs and puppies have been proudly displayed in the Shire Hall in Monmouth since January for the community to enjoy. They will be removed later this week.

In addition to the Snowdogs campaign, four Monmouth RFC players, Spencer Cawley, Will Smith, Joel Grant and Morgan Paley, in conjunction with our sponsors at Convey Law, are taking on the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge on 30th June.

Supported by Milbury Rentals, which is providing the transport for the boys to complete the Three Peaks challenge, they will be testing their limits by taking on the highest peaks in north, mid and south Wales, all within 15 hours!

Then on 4th July Monmouth RFC chairman Lloyd Davies will be climbing the five highest mountains in the UK in 55 hours, in a task known as the 5in55 UK Challenge. He will be undertaking the challenge as part of an inspirational quest with 10 dads whose family have used the services of Ty Hafan.

Climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan, Lloyd will be climbing a combined height of 5,187m and covering over 36 miles in total. This challenge is about the Ty Hafan Dads pushing themselves, inspiring others, forging friendships and proving, once again, that the dads are stronger together.
