Regional Senedd Member Laura Anne Jones, has slammed unfair bus fares after speaking to residents in Ponthir, where one resident revealed they paid nearly £10 for a 1.7 mile short journey to The Grange University Hospital with his wife and baby.
Ms Jones said: “Travel to Hospitals are essential, and people travelling just a couple of stops should not be forced into buying day or family passes because of confusing fare rules. That is not fair on patients or families trying to access care.
“This clearly points to a wider problem with how bus fares and routes are structured. My residents in Ponthir are being caught out and this needs urgent attention.
“I will continue to push for answers and fairer fares for residents across the region, as well as a bus strategy that incorporates more routes to hospitals.”
