MONMOUTH MP David Davies claimed nearly £2,000 in expenses for work carried out by his father's firm, it has been revealed.

David Davies, the Conservative MP for Monmouth, made claims totalling £1,933.18 in 2007 for expenditure including leaflet design, photographs and stamps under the taxpayer-funded Communications Allowance.

The money was paid to Burrow Heath, a firm owned by Mr Davies' father, Peter.

The MP said the work was done "at cost" and would have cost the taxpayer more had it been carried out elsewhere. It had been approved by the Commons authorities, he added.
