More points for Damian at Swansea Bay

Damian Cole had a new co-driver for last weekend's Swansea Bay National Rally in the shape of Coleford's Cliff Simmons in The Get Connected Accent Wrc.

This was Simmons first ride in a Wrc and first time in a rally with Damian. The opening three stages went well although they changed from being dry to wet and slippery. They lost both brakes and the intercom for the final two miles of the long 15 mile Stage 4, costing them a bit of time. The last two stages went well and the duo finished 8th overall and 2nd in class, with Damian collecting another maximum points score in the Pine Lodge Welsh National Championship.

Cliff Simmons said:?"It was the first time in all my years of rallying I had sat in a Wrc car, and my first event with Damian, but I really enjoyed the experience and hopefully we can do another event together sometime."

Damian's next event will be in two weeks time when he does the Harry Flatters Rally on the Epynt Ranges near Brecon. Ross co-driver Paul Morris drove with Enniskillen's Alistair Fisher to 8th overall and 3rd in both class and Fiesta Challenge on the Swansea Bay Clubman Rally. This leaves the pairing in the fight for top honours in the Fiesta Championship with three rounds remaining. The National Rally was won by Dave Weston and Aled Davies in the Ramsport 05 Focus Wrc with James Belton and Eurig Evans taking top honours in the Clubman event in the Subaru Wrc.
