Ross Motocross rider Chris Jones raced at Hilworth Court Farm, Longdon on Sunday, June 8th in the MX2 Expert Class. The meeting was in memory of his brother, Simon Jones, who died tragically in a road accident on June 10th 2006. Chris aged 33 of Old Nursery Close, competed in three races and came in 2nd place overall. He is sponsored for his kit by Jeremy Harris of Moto Off Road in Ross, and for his Suzuki 250f by Martin Humphries of Gloucester. Before practice a minutes silence was held for everyone to pay their respects to Simon. Everyone at motox was glad to see Chris doing so well after only his 5th meeting this year since he returned after a four year break and many people had a chuckle at the slogan on the back of his shirt "Jones Is Back!". Chris has enjoyed a long and successful career in motox over the years and used to race in the AMC British Champions and he is extremely well known throughout the motox family. At the end of the day there was a presentation and Chris was awarded a trophy which is his second this year. He won a trophy for third place three weeks ago. His suporters are hoping that Chris continues to do well and can bring home many more trophies. Chris said he would like to thank organiser Sarah Pollock from Upton MCC for all her hard work arranging this memorial meeting.
