MADAM,

I am filled with dismay by the Monnow Street proposals.

I do most earnestly suggest that the widening of the pavements is not made permanent or they will cost a great deal of money to remove.

This totally ridiculous scheme is destined to fail.

Monmouth will become gridlocked from all directions, Mr Hoggins glibly talks about “some inconvenience to cars to begin with”, could he tell us how long this trial period will go on for, until Christmas perhaps?

I am surprised we have not heard from the Chamber of Commerce.

Once word gets round that one gets gridlocked in Monmouth people will avoid Monmouth like the plague and the shops will all get seriously hit, we have enough empty shops without encouraging more of them.

I would suggest motorists keep a log of how long they spend stuck in gridlock and inform Mr Hoggins on a regular basis.
