VOLUNTEER awards made a return to Monmouth at Bridges Community Centre, the event was introduced by Volunteer coordinator, Marianne Piper.
The driving volunteer award of the year was presented by Mike Logan who is the wellbeing Director at Bridges. The award went to Keith Baldwin, with three other highly recommended type awards which were for Graham Davies, Steve Cieslik and Les Diosi but was collected by the car scheme coordinators as Keith couldn’t make it to the event.

The young volunteer award was presented by the Mayor of Monmouth Jackie Atkin and was given to Freddie Hughes but unfortunately Freddie couldn’t attend so it was collected by his parents.

The social group volunteer of the year award was presented by Anne Rosser who is the Co-chair of Trustees, and it was given to Karen Farr and accepted by Jill Cole who is one of the volunteering co-coordinator for her area.

The special recognition award was presented by Diane Richards, the Usk Mayor and was given to Nicola Morse and accepted by Jo Prelevic volunteer co-ordinator.

The outstanding contribution award was presented by Angela Sandles, the cabinet member of Monmouthshire County Council, the award winner was Janet Clare-vass.

The befriender volunteer award was presented by Maxine Mitchell who is the Mayor of Caldicot, collected by Paul Harrington who is a befriender co-ordinator and Ros Whitfield won the award.

The charity shop volunteer of the year was given out by Miranda Thomason, GAVO for the winner Ruth Francis and Ellen Davis but was accepted by Shirley Knight who has been a long-term volunteer.

The final award which was the community involvement volunteer of the year was given out by the Lord Lieutenant of Gwent to Ruby Rishi.

The event concluded with a raffle, the winners of the ‘capture a moment’ photography competition volunteering and a speech by the Lord Lieutenant of Gwent.
