In recognition of their recent success in winning the Welsh Football League, Monmouth Town Football Club (MTFC) were presented with a plaque by Monmouth Town Council on Monday 23rd June. Mayor Jane Gunter welcomed club officials and said how proud the town was of their great achievement and wished them success next season. Lee Robson, chairman of MTFC, said he was very proud of his club's achievement. "We have come a long way from when the club was formed in 1876 to save the young men from drink," he said. "We are really flying the flag for Monmouth and we have a great sense of civic pride. Our youth side, 5-16 years old have 245 registered players and is a silver accredited club. "We thank Monmouth Town Council for this honour and feel inspired to continue the hard work next season."
