Students from all three secondary schools in the town participated in the annual 'Monmouth's Got Talent' contest. Finalists from each school competed at the Blake Theatre on Friday 9th March. This year the competition was won by Ella Sutton (Year 11) and George Thomas (Year 12) from Monmouth Comprehensive School singing a duet entitled 'Choice Notes'.

One of the judges, Mr Antony Smith from Nimbus Records, said that the standard of entries had been remarkable and far exceeded his expectations. Mr Mark Walton of Bridges Community Centre was a fellow judge and also was impressed by the level and standard of the competition.

The competition is organised by the Head Boys and Girls from each school and the event raises money for local charities, including the Bridges Community Centre. The competition aims to bring all students at each of the schools together to support the local community in a fun and exciting way. The opening act this year was Katie John, a Year 5 pupil at Overmonnow Primary School, who won the junior 'Monmouth's Got Talent' contest.
