Having to play in a promotion play-off, Monmouth could count themselves unlucky.
In Swalec League 5 East, Hartridge RFC dropped out at the start, leaving two games un-played and with automatic promotion for second placed teams depending on comparative points scored, teams in their league were immediately at a disadvantage.
For the lesser placed ones, a play-off was necessary and Neath Athletic were sadly to triumph 16-10 at neutral venue Pentyrch last Wednesday evening (18th May).
