Famous Monmouth landmarks have been immortalised in a new comic book.

Cardiff-based writer Peter Rogers has brought dragons to the town in his latest graphic novel 'The Interactives'.

The book centres around a blogger who goes by the username of scallywag and a group of his online followers as they attempt to keep the creatures from fantasy fiction at bay.

Peter, whose previous work includes a comic book biography of footballer David Beckham, was living in Monmouth when he wrote the book last year.

"My main inspiration was the town and landscape around me," he said.

"I would look out over the fields behind our back garden and start to imagine hordes of angry dragons attacking."

The dragons in the story don't stay in the fields for long however and can soon be seen flying past local landmarks like Monnow Bridge and Agincourt Square.

Despite the traditional trappings of fantasy fiction there is also a very modern element to the story.

"I wanted to explore the role of the internet and social media in modern society, especially the effect on personal expression and imagination," Peter said.

All the main characters have their own Facebook accounts and you can follow scallywag on twitter @theinteractives.

The first 15 pages of the book are free to read online at theinteractives.com

It will also be available in book shops and comic shops as of next week.
