A MONMOUTH Comprehensive School pupil has had her hair cut off for charity. 14-year-old Breaghanna McMahon faced the chop yesterday (12th August) to raise awareness of the Little Princess Trust. The charity supports children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses by supplying real-hair wigs. In addition to accepting monetry donations, the charity also accepts hair donations which are used to manufacture wigs for the children. Breaghanna said: "I heard of a girl who did something similar for a different charity. "I found the Little Princess charity online and cried after watching their video. "The support I've had from my family has been great." Breaghanna's mum Donna McMahon said: "I was gobsmacked when Breaghanna said she was having her hair cut as she hates short hair. "I'm very proud of her." Monica Glass, charity manager at Little Princess Trust, said: "Everyone at the Little Princess Trust is very grateful to Breaghanna for choosing to support the charity in this way. "By donating her hair, Breaghanna will be contributing to a real-hair wig for a child within the UK or Ireland that is currently suffering with cancer. "In addition to this wonderful support, through her fundraising, Breaghanna is helping to purchase another wig for a further child. "It is truly heartening that someone so young wishes to do so much to help others. What an inspiration."
