Incoming Head at Monmouth School, Melvyn Roffe, has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his outstanding contributions and impact in the education sector.

On receiving the news of his award, Melvyn said: “I am thrilled and humbled to be recognised in this way. Education has always been more than just a career for me, so it means a great deal that this honour also reflects service to the community in Edinburgh, which I was privileged to call home for ten years. I’ve always believed young people thrive in schools that are deeply rooted in their communities – and that those communities are stronger for it.

OM Noel Manns and governor at the school, has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
