The end of the rugby season with its flurry of 'catch up' games has brought more by way of encouragement for the future to Monmouth than wins to report..

The victory against Rhiwbina promised much but since then two games against the top two in their league has brought two defeats. At Tredegar the first two minutes saw the home team desperately defending their line as Monmouth rocked them back on their heals as they did again in the closing stages of the first half but as was to become clear, despite their strong pack they struggled to score and were gluttons for sucker punches that left them on the wrong end of a 9 try drubbing, and yet Monmouth had around 75% of the play!
