Jamie Gunn's army regiment will take on Monmouth Rugby Club this weekend in memory of the young rifleman who died in Afghanistan two years ago.

1st Battalion the Rifles will raising money for their charity of choice, the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), at Chippenham on Saturday (12th February), kick off 12.30pm.

Jamies mum, Janet Gunn, said: "It's hard to believe it's nearly two years since Jamie died.

"In many ways it seems a lifetime ago but it also feels like it was yesterday. Our lives changed completely and forever when he went.

"Never an hour goes by when I don't think of my lovely boy.

"But life goes on; it has to. And I get such pleasure from seeing Jamie's memory live on with his family and friends, especially if we can raise a bit of money at the same time.

"So that's what made us think of a rugby match between Monmouth RFC and 1st Battalion The Rifles, Jamie's regiment based at Sedbury, near Chepstow.

"So, with thanks to the committee at Monmouth Rugby Club and Sam from The Rifles, the match is due to take place this Saturday at the Sports Ground.

"There will be collections for the ABF, The Soldiers' Charity that helped us out so swiftly and The Rifles Charity that raises money for the wives and families of injured Riflemen.
