Monmouth Flyers Trampoline Club continued its growing success in competition with an impressive haul of six medals at the Tony James Cup in Abertillery on 27 September.
Nine Flyers took part, bringing home three gold and three bronze medals, with several gymnasts competing for the club for the first time.
There were debut golds for Freddie Tyler and Rudy MacCormac. Freddie took first place in the Disability 10 Bounce competition, while Rudy won the boys’ 10 Bounce 8–10 category. Ella Peters added a third gold for Monmouth with an excellent performance in the girls’ Novice Level 1 6–10 competition.
The club also celebrated three bronze medals. Emrys Sugar finished third in the boys’ 5 Bounce 5–7 competition, Isla Lofts took bronze at Novice Level 1, and Lyra Sugar secured third place in a competitive Novice Level 3 field.
Evie Hill narrowly missed the medals with a fourth-place finish at Novice Level 3, with Ariadne Sugar seventh in the same event. Carla Greenwood also made her competition debut in the 10 Bounce 8–10 category.
The results mark another encouraging step for the volunteer-run Monmouth club, which has continued to grow its membership and competitive programme over the past year.
The Tony James Cup provides grassroots gymnasts with the opportunity to experience competition in a friendly and supportive environment. Monmouth Flyers thanked the organisers, officials and volunteers who made the Abertillery event possible.
