With hopes of a visit to the Millennium Stadium with just two more wins and encouraged by a large crowd of travelling supporters, spirits were raised further by a vigorous start which included a missed penalty kick, a right wing break by Chris Reed thwarted only by a foot in touch, capped by an excellent set piece move try by left wing Tom Baker.Although fly-half Rhys Rickets missed the conversion, all looked well despite the considerably higher status of Swalec League Division 4 leaders Senghenydd. The home side was stirred by this and came back progressively until near enough to narrow the gap to three-five with a penalty for off-side as Monmouth defended their line whereupon the wags in the home crowd offered advice which was soon to be proved right.Several pages of notes would be generated before the end of a game when Monmouth, despite their battling away, were to succumb 69-10 to a side fitter and faster by far.Tackling was to be key and sadly Monmouth, despite individual displays of courage, too often fell off tackles as wave upon wave of attacks exploited weaknesses in their defences.
