FURTHER parking changes are taking place in Monmouth with the introduction of charges in the Co-op car park.
A spokesperson for Co-operative Food said: "The Co-operative believes that managing car parking spaces is important and that this should be done fairly, for the benefit of all."
Previously the car park arrangements were a free one and a half hour maximum stay.
Under the new situation, the first hour will be free.
However, there will be a charge of £1 for a stay of between one and two hours, though this will be refunded at the till when the customer spends £10 or more inside the store.
This is a similar situation to the Waitrose car park, which has, customers of the Co-op believe, caused more people to park in the Co-op car park without actually shopping in the store.
The Co-op says the changes to the car park regulations are at the request of customers.
