SIR,

May we, through your letter pages, thank everyone who attended and helped at the musical evening in Mitchel Troy Village Hall on Sunday 21 October?

It was great to see so many friends and relations there to support the village.

The music, original folk song and story telling were provided by 'howdenjones' an immensely talented pair who entertained and amused the audience.

The evening raised nearly £250 of much-needed funds towards the refurbishment of the hall.

Since then we are delighted that our application for a grant from Monmouthshire County Council's Village Community Facility Capital Investment Programme has been successful.

This grant, which is part of the Rural Development Plan of the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, will enable the trustees of Mitchel Troy Village Hall to install a disabled toilet facility in the hall and continue with the programme of improving the energy efficiency of the hall by insulating the roof and replacing inefficient fluorescent tubes with energy efficient lighting.

These works will make the hall even more comfortable for all our users and, we hope, even more attractive to anyone who would like to book the hall for regular or one-off use.
