A CITY deal with Cardiff that could see millions of pounds coming into the county received an emphatic thumbs up last Wednesday (17th June).
The deal forms an agreement between the UK Government, local governments and the Welsh Government.
It seeks to enhance transport, employment and business infrastructure in the area.
The new plans also look to upgrade railway lines in the region with Chepstow, Severn Tunnel Junction and Magor all benefiting.
Cabinet agreed last Wednesday (17th June) to release £30,300 from the Priority Investment Reserve. 10 authorities in south Wales will benefit from the scheme and each have been asked to contribute a figure to make a total of £500,000.
Kellie Beirne, chief officer for regeneration and culture at MCC, said: "I personally believe this could be a real game changer for us.
"The plans could be great for the region and fantastic for Monmouthshire."
Leader of MCC, Peter Fox, said: "I am passionate about pushing these plans forward."
A further meeting will be held tomorrow (25th June) for full council to decide whether or not to confirm the plans.
