A former Beacon reporter, who went on to work for the News of the World, has told of his sadness about the closure of the paper.
Chris Morgan has worked casually on the sports desk at the News of the World for 20 years.
Mr Morgan was born in Rockfield, brought up in Newcastle and attended Monmouth School.
He worked on the Beacon from 1966 to 1969.
After that he went on to work for the Western Daily Press, the Western Mail, the Evening Standard and finally on to The Sun and the News of the World.
