Young rower Megan Jephcote smashed her previous best by seven seconds to take gold at the Finland National Championships in Helsinki last Saturday (5th February).

This was the last of an epic three weeks that had seen Megan travel to three competitions and travel over 3,000 miles.

The 12-year-old Monmouth Comprehensive School pupil, from Coleford, had already picked up gold in the Scottish with a bronze in the English and now has another gold in Finland.

Megan will be reducing the amount of indoor events she takes part in and try to focus on her water rowing at Gloucester Rowing Club, although she will attend one last indoor competition in Japan in July.

Megan can now take a well-earned break. She celebrated her win straight after the event with three hours of ice skating in a snow filled Helsinki.
