Sir,

We were relieved to receive a letter from the Education Authority over the weekend to confirm a place for our daughter at Monmouth Comprehensive School from September.

Apart from the fact that it makes life simple as our son already attends the school, we are delighted that she too will get to experience life in an excellent school with an expectation of standards and basic moral values as well as a good education.

For any parent experiencing this transition for the first time, I would like to say that had I known two years ago what I know now, I would not have worried.

On the whole the transition from primary school was seamless and a lot of effort has been made to ensure a swift integration (with standards) into the new learning environment.

During the information evenings, the school made a promise to get to know and care for our children. As a parent of a child embarking on this next chapter of life, it was reassuring and warming.

A term and a half on, I can honestly say that this is a promise that MCS has kept, which is enabling our son to blossom as he becomes a teenager and faces the academic challenges ahead.

Credit where credit is due, MCS is a fabulous school and will offer a bright future for any student lucky enough to attend.
