Monmouthshire County Councillors have given their support to a proposal to build new headquarters in Usk, and improve services in Monmouthshire's towns.

At a council meeting on Thursday 14th January, the proposal asked councillors to approve the move from their current headquarters at County Hall in Cwmbran to a new, appropriate building within the county it serves.

Leader of the Council Peter Fox said, "Now these recommendations are supported by the council, we have a positive way forward. We must deliver for the future of Monmouthshire and show that we are open for business."

Deputy Leader of the Council, Bob Greenland added, "Staying where we are in Cwmbran is not an option, because the building suffers from concrete cancer, and it would cost well in excess of £30 million just to keep it standing. To bring it up to modern standards would cost a great deal more again."
