The independent 'evidence gatherer' in Monmouthshire County Council's (MCC) market consultation has said sorry to those who didn't get to share their views with him.

Mark Gardner, the chief executive of Melin Homes housing association, was in the Shire Hall on Monday (9th May) to hear evidence from members of the public in relation to the future of the Friday and Saturday markets.

Time slots were allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and a number of people were unable to speak to Mr Gardner face-to-face.

"I'm very much aware that there are probably 10 times the amount of people who wanted to come and see me today and I apologise that everyone hasn't been able to do so," Mr Gardner told the Beacon.
