An evening of top class entertainment was held in the Bridges Community Centre in aid of the Mayor’s charities. (Quest Busters, Social Circles and The Savoy Youth Theatre).

Last Friday, March 25, an audience enjoyed a Charity Cabaret Evening provided by the talented members of the Savoy Youth Theatre supported by West End stars Robert Traynor and Kevin Tillett who performed songs from the shows, as well as hilarious comedy sketches.

Songs such as ‘Guns and Ships’, Hamilton, and ‘School Song’, Matilda by the Savoy Youth Theatre, and then ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ from South Pacific sung by Robert Traynor and Tom Lehrer’s ‘Poisoning Pigeons In The Park’, sung by Kevin Tillett.

Produced by Sam Densham, the sparkling array of music and comedy highlighted the talents of the great age range of the young entertainers.

Children from QuestBusters joined the theatre group on stage for Any Dream Will Do, and their film to the song using Makaton signing was shown.

Comperes were Sam Densham, Holly, Iwan and Ella, and the senior youth theatre members took responsibility on the night for caring for the juniors - some as young as 6 - and helped to co-ordinate the evening and served the audience their fish and chips and drinks.

At the end of the show, The Mayor, Councillor Terry Christopher, congratulated everyone who took part in the evening’s entertainment, in particular he mentioned how confidently the performers sang and acted.

He thanked and led the applause for Sam Densham on her fantastic evening of enjoyment, which raised a significant amount of money for such worthy causes.

“I would like to thank not only the parents who helped on the night, but also Clarke

Printing for the admission tickets The Co-op and Handyman House who donated Raffle Prizes and the staff at Bridges for their help in promoting the event” he said.

Sam is really proud of the work the young people of the youth theatre do, not just performing amazing numbers and sketches but taking on so many other roles proving themselves to be great young leaders, “we are so grateful to Terry for all his support during his time as mayor” she added.
