A CEREMONY has taken place to formally install Chepstow’s mayor, Councillor Paul Pavia.
Civic Guests from across the county joined with Chepstow councillors and community leaders to formally install Cllr Pavia, in a special service at St Mary’s RC Church at Old Bulwark Road, Chepstow.
The annual service was both a celebration of the mayor’s year in office and an opportunity to give thanks to those engaged in public service within the wider community.
Cllr Pavia was supported by his wife and consort, Louise Pavia, his children, Maddalena and Alberto, as well as other family and friends at the ecumenical service, which was led by Father Michael St Clair. Members of other Christian churches in the town also participated in the ceremony.
Commenting on the event, Cllr Pavia said: “It is a great honour and privilege to be elected Mayor of Chepstow and I wanted the civic ceremony to give thanks not just for the role of the mayoralty but to honour all those who give service to the public in the town.
“Chepstow is a unique town with a rich historical and cultural heritage but what makes it extraordinary is its people; those who work and volunteer to enhance the well-being of the town and its residents and it’s only right that they should be recognised and thanked.”
