A NEW scheme to tackle anti-social behaviour in Chepstow will be launched next month.
After becoming aware of disturbance in the Middle Way area, Chepstow Mayor Dale Rooke decided to tackle the issue head on.
After receiving calls about a group of young boys allegedly causing some disturbance at the bus stop, he decided to do something about it.
Mayor Rooke said: “A group of young local lads, no more than nine years old, were using the bus stop at Middle Way as a goal post. They were kicking the ball against it and disturbing residents at the Reddings.
“They felt intimidated and confronted the boys which caused arguments between both groups.
“What I plan to do to tackle this problem is set up an intergenerational day to bring old and young together to talk through and sort out their problems.
“Hopefully it will make them see that they’re not actually that different from each other.”
The day is anticipated to include video games and a chance for both groups to communicate with each other.
The event will be held at Bulwark Senior Citizens Centre. A date hadn’t been confirmed as the Beacon went to press.
