A 42-YEAR-OLD man killed in a crash yesterday (3rd January) has been named by Gwent Police as Mark Crabtree from Hertfordshire.

The crash happened on the A449 near the Usk turnoff and involved one vehicle.

Mr Crabtree was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “At approximately 9.30am on Sunday 3rd January, Gwent Police received reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A449 southbound heading towards Newport near the Usk turnoff.”

The A449 was closed southbound for several hours and diversions were put in place.Mr Crabtree's father, Philip Crabtree, has issued the following statement: “Mark, a father of three children with a fiancée called Sonia will be missed very much by his partner, children and family."He was a great guy and brightened everybody’s life around him with his smile and laughter. May he rest in peace.”
