A 59-year-old man has died following a collision in Monnow Street in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 10th July).
Gwent Police were called at about 3.16am to reports of a car having been involved in a collision on Monnow Street, Monmouth.
Officers and emergency services colleagues attended the scene and found that a Peugeot 106 had collided with a building.
The male driver was unconscious and remained in the vehicle. He was removed from the vehicle and taken to Nevill Hall hospital, where he died a short time later.
Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and the coroner has been informed.
Anyone who may have seen the collision, or who may have been in the Monnow Street area between 3am and 3.30am this morning to ring 101 quoting log 61.
Monnow Street was closed for a short time but has now re-opened.
