A man was arrested following a dramatic collision between a silver VW Passat and a blue Peugeot 306 outside the Chase Hotel, in Gloucester Road, on Saturday evening, while the Ross Mayor's Ball was in full swing inside the hotel. The driver of the Passat was taken to hospital and then arrested when he tested positive for drink driving. He was subsequently charged with multiple offences, including driving over the limit, driving without due care and attention, use of a motor vehicle with no third party insurance, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failing to report a collision, driving while disqualified, and obstructing an officer in the execution of his duty. The driver, a 20 year old Lithuanian named Lianonas Steponavicius, appeared at the Magistrates Court in Hereford on Monday and he was remanded to appear again on April 21st. • Lesley Gilmour who lives in Gloucester Road took the picture of one of the cars being taken away.
