MONMOUTHSHIRE County Council has played host to a visit from two Malaysian delegates last week.

The event was arranged as part of an exchange programme to support trade and enterprise development across the Commonwealth.

Both delegates are vice-chancellors from Malaysian universities who had travelled to Monmouthshire to learn about local democracy and income generation in the public sector.

A presentation from Paul Matthews, the council's chief executive, was followed by an attendance at a full council meeting.

There were also visits laid on to Caldicot Castle, Chepstow Leisure Centre, Tintern Old Station countryside visitor centre and

Monmouth's Shire Hall.
