Luke Jones improved his leading position in the British 125cc Championship with a second place in Round 8 at Oulton Park circuit on Sunday. There were good results for the Jones race team a whole. Dean Jones came sixth in the R6 Yamaha Media cup, his best result yet, a boost to his confidence. Conditions were not good as heavy rain fell most of the weekend. Luke was 4th on the grid for the start of the race, as the race developed the lead kept changing between the front six riders. After a few riders tumbled off in the wet condition, Luke was in the lead for long periods. The race was red flagged after 8 laps and the result stood. The winner was Rob Guiver, second Luke and third was Luke's championship rival Kev Goghlan. This result gives Luke a 13 points lead in the championship once more. He has 152 points and his nearest rival Kev has 139. Four riders share third place with 80 points each. The next round is at Mallory Park, Leicestershire on July 22nd.
