How rewarding to open The Beacon and find a picture of the Wyesham children pictured at Mayhill in the 1940s.
In the front row, four from the left and sitting between two little girls, is my brother Derek Smith, who was born in 1932 but who sadly died in 1955 aged 23 following a motor cycle accident in Ipswich whilst he was serving in the RAF.
This picture has never been seen before by me or my sister who has lived most of her adult life in America but who informs me that the surnames of some of the children in the picture are Ward, Lewis, Hughes, Bridges and Leddington.
I myself was born in 1946 in Wyesham Avenue and I still have The Beacon sent to me every week even though I have lived in Oxford for the last 43 years. Thank you to Sheila Hyde for producing such lovely memories.
