MATCH reporters and scorers are being sought by Monmouth Cricket Club.

The club are holding their annual general meeting on Friday (November 28) and want to lay the platform for next season.

Someone with an interest in cricket and writing is needed to take over the weekly match reporting duties from Ian Morgan.

Due to his work commitments with the Hereford Times, Morgan is relinquishing his match reporting duties after eight years.

However, Morgan has offered to continue to help with the club's general publicity.

Club chairman Pat Baker said: "Win, lose or draw, Monmouth Cricket Club has been featured in the local press each week, during the summer, for a number of years. People have enjoyed reading our match reports and we would like this trend to continue."

Baker added: "Ian is happy to offer advice to those willing to take over the role. The role is a voluntary position. Perhaps it might suit a young person living in the town with an interest in cricket or sports journalism?"

Volunteers are also needed to score the first-team book on match-days and help youth co-ordinator Jon Despontin with the running of the club's junior sides.

The annual meeting, which takes place in the pavilion at Monmouth Sports Ground, will be followed by the club's end-of-season presentation of awards.

All past, present and future members are invited to the evening which starts at 7pm and includes a free buffet.

More details about the roles are available from secretary Mike Roberts on 01600 716447.
