Last weekend's Bulldog Historic Rally saw Simon Tysoe and Cliff Simmons take top local honours with seventh overall in the Classic category.

Round 2 of the Dunlop/ Wanago MSA Historic Championship and Round 4 of the Dennis Motorsport Welsh Historic Series saw crews arrive in Welshpool for 52 miles in the classic forests of Dyfnant, Dyfi, Gartheiniog, and Aberhirnant complex.

For Tysoe and Simmons, their only problem other than the slippery morning stages was a loose rear axle but some consolation came with equal fastest time on the last stage.

Stuart Clarke, together with Andy Ballantyne in the CC Groundworks pinto engined Escort, was renewing his battle with rival Guy Woodcock from the opening round.

Once Woodcock lost time with a puncture on stage two, nobody had an answer to Clarke's pace and he finished an excellent ninth overall, first in class.

Will Rogers teamed up with Nick Painter in the RP Joinery, BG Landrovers-backed Escort RS.

The duo found conditions sapped the power but had a trouble-free run to 25th overall, sixth in class.

"Conditions were slippery but the stages were very good," said Will.
