Having featured on TV playing their ukeleles last year, pupils from Llandogo Primary School made a second appearance on our screens on Tuesday.

This time they were involved in a moving short film about Remembrance Day, which was transmitted on BBC Wales and also screened on the Big Screen in London, Cardiff and Swansea on Remembrance Day.

Entitled My River, the film was made by young people in Wales as part of the BBC WWI campaign to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Amistice, bringing young and old together in the act of Remembrance. The overall theme was to celebrate changes in the landscape and in mankind.

Using the visual metaphor of the local River Wye and that of the River Somme, 12 children from Llandogo Primary School remembered their relatives who had fought in WW1, bringing in family memorabilia, including medals, photos and newspapers.

With original archive from the Imperial War Museum, their poem 'My River' reflects their appreciation of what they have today and tells us to "be thankful that nothing stays the same".

The poem / music was written by local composer,Justin Nicholls and the programme was produced by Melanie Lindsell, BBC Wales.

Llandogo Primary's Head Teacher Nicola Sutherland, Head said: "It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to investigate their family history."

The programme can be viewed online at the website http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/history">www.bbc.co.uk/wales/history. Our picture shows some of the film making pupils.
