Lizzie Grant, a Year 10 pupil at Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls, spent October half term at UNICEF's London Head Office making her very own online campaign.

This followed Lizzie's success in the UNICEF Youth Competition 2008, where Lizzie won first prize and the chance to develop her winning campaign on Third World debt. Lizzie created a website, entitled 'debt = damage', to highlight the plight of countries affected by debt and to raise awareness and generate support amongst young people. Lizzie's website is now live at http://www.debdamage.org.uk">www.debdamage.org.uk

On spending a week at UNICEF, Lizzie said, "I was made to feel very welcome by everyone at UNICEF and met people from the youth section, the publishing Section, the marketing section and the design team. It was a great experience, and I learnt a lot about campaigning and how a major charity works."

Nick Meek, Head of Geography at HMSG said, "I was delighted to hear that Lizzie had won the 2008 Youth Competition. Lizzie studied the issues surrounding Third World debt as part of her Year 9 Geography course at HMSG, and a year on I am going to be able to use Lizzie's website as part of my teaching."
