SIR,
On behalf of many OAP dog walkers, we are well aware there is no right of way across the riverside meadow, but we have done so for a long time. Also, we have picked up the rubbish on the way.
However, now we are not agile enough to climb over the fence, as we see youngsters doing. Therefore, the rubbish stays.
But up the hill at Church Hill, we practice our agility by picking up after campers who enjoy the view, the peace and barbecues and outdoor toilets.
If the driver of a car I saw recently is reading this then well done. We don't expect five young girls to tidy up after themselves.
As the person who left some furniture by the car park, how pathetic is that?
At least the campers in the Dixton meadows on Sunday left a roaring fire for the sheep and cattle, plus a gazebo to shelter under when it got too hot.
Shame about all the plastic and broken glass though. It must be quite satisfying to spoil a beautiful spot.
If only these people had an intelligence as high as their shoe size. In the meantime, we oldies are there to clear up, and it keeps us supple so we musn't grumble.
